Episode 9.03: The Meat Sweats

Well, gang, I’m finally back!  Took last week off for the Family Day weekend, and in fact, I mention what I was up to in Episode 9.03: The Meat Sweats.  So what ramblings do I ramble this week?

  • As I mentioned, how I spent my Family Day weekend.
  • Some off-the-cuff comments on seeing The Reverent and Deadpool.
  • Pondering what new Blu-Rays to buy
  • And sampling two — yes two! — different McDonald’s burgers in more Mark Tastes Random Things

Episode 9.02: A Windy Day

Well, now that I’m back, the real challenge begins:  can I keep things going for an entire series…a minimum of 13 episodes?  I’ll do my best, darn it!

I almost feel like I have to apologize for those who might be tuning this week after last week’s round table special.  We’re back to normal now.  Just me…rambling about the topics I like.  And what are the topics in Episode 9.02: A Windy Day?

  • More Star Wars rambling of course!  Talking about the new action figures that are out there!
  • The rise of the Cinematic Universe…even Hasbro is getting in on the act!
  • A bid farewell to 1980s nostalgia, and begin welcoming 1990s nostalgia!

And more!

Episode 9.01: The Force Awoke

We’re back!  Time to kick of a new season of the U62: The Targ.  And U62: The Targto start this new season, I decided to do something radically different.

As you know from my blog and my podcasts of last year, I was really, really, REALLY excited for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  But rather than spend the entire podcast talking about what I thought of The Force Awakens, I decided to follow one of your suggestions as to the podcast:  invite in some guests.

In Episode 9.01: The Force Awoke, I invite some of my colleagues to join me, Matthew Jemmett and Mark McCue, to also share their thoughts The Force Awakens.  We’ve been obsessing about this film for the past year, so may as well all share our thoughts on the film!

I am going to throw up a bit of a language warning for this one.  While I have sworn in previous podcasts, in this one, we all swear a lot.  What can I say?  We’re very passionate about Star Wars.

So here’s Episode 9.01: The Force Awoke!

Episode 8.17: Kinda Sorta

My season finale!  August is shaping up to be a busy month, so it’s time to take a step back and focus on what’s going on in the real world.  But before I walk away, I pump out one last one, Episode 8.17: Kinda Sorta.  So what’s on the agenda for this one?

I hope this’ll keep you satisfied until September rolls around, and I can start pumping things out on regular basis.  So listen, and enjoy!

Episode 8.16: All Stuffed Up

U62: The Targ

Pluggin’ along at the ol’ podcast, and we really are in the dog days of summer.  I’m running out of fascinating things to talk about, as there’s not much going on.  But still, I battle my stuffy nose in these finals days of fighting a cold to bring you Episode 8.16: All Stuffed Up.  What are my rants?

  • With my love of superhero films, I just got home from Ant-Man, so I share my thoughts.
  • I came home without any new Blu-Rays, and somehow that gets me ranting about the secret origins of special editions
  • I share my fascination with Charlie Brown cartoons, as I picked up a lot on DVD lately.

That, and a few other digressions and rants await you in Episode 8.16: All Stuffed Up.

Episode 8.15: Waitin’ for the Pizza

I almost skipped doing an episode of U62: The Targ this week.  It’s another busy weekend, but, I did find a few moments to myself, so I decided to throw together a mini-sode!  It’s shorter than the typical episode, where all I really do is ramble about the awesome trailers that were released from the San Diego Comic Con this week.

You know, that Star Wars: The Force Awakens featurette:

And that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer.

Here my ramble on Episode 8.15: Waitin’ for the Pizza!

Episode 8.14: Funghi Pizza

Here we are again, with the good ol’ podcast.  Not much to talk about, but there’s enough out there to get me talking.  At least, to fill 20 minutes of airtime.  So what ramblings to I ramble in Episode 8.14: Funghi Pizza?

  • I tell you how I spent my birthday this year, including having a pizza at Famoso and seeing Inside Out.  (Complete review here, in case you haven’t seen it yet.)
  • The latest Star Wars news, including my thoughts on the upcoming Young Han Solo spinoff film.  (I do so much rambling about Star Wars I should turn it into its own segment.)
  • I ponder whether I own a lot of DVDs or whether the DVDs own me.
  • And hey!  You ever see the “special thanks” in the end credits of a movie?  Ever wonder what people did to get those special thanks?  Well, I share some special thanks stories I recently heard.

And that’s what you’ll find in this week’s podcast!

Oh, and I didn’t realize I accidentally gave the date as April 12 until I got home from recording it, re-listened to it, and noticed it.  But trust me, it’s July 12.

Episode 8.13: Dog Days of Summer

Well, gang, summer is here, and with that, things are slowing down a bit, leaving me with very little material in this week’s episode of U62: The Targ.  So, I scrape the bottom of the barrel a little bit, but I find some scraps for Episode 8.13: Dog Days of Summer.

  • Rambling about Star Wars is always good, so I continue the countdown to The Force Awakens
  • The Raccoons looks to be the next reboot coming down the line, so I rant about that.
  • I got the latest issue of the Augustana alumni magazine the other day, so I share some tales of the good ol’ days
  • And taking a minute to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future.

Episode 8.12: The Coffee Can of Destiny

Wowee wow!  I’m back!  In my last episode, I said I’d be back in two U62: The Targweeks.  But then, life got in the way, two weeks turned into four, and I finally had a weekend to myself to sit and record a podcast!  So, what do I have for you on Episode 8.12: The Coffee Can of Destiny?

  • As is tradition, I explain where I’ve been for the past few weeks.  Lounging in a hot tub, my aunt came to visit, I went back to Athabasca and Fort Edmonton Park!
  • Thanks to the various streaming video services, I’ve been binging on Quantum Leap and Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
  • Another installment of “Mark Tastes Random Things,” as I sample the McLobster for your pleasure!
  • And, a few quick thoughts on Jurassic World

And that’s what’s in store on Episode 8.12: The Coffee Can of Destiny!

Episode 8.11: Titles Are Hard

Eventually, I’ve got to do a podcast like this.  I clean out my show prep file and just find all the little scraps of stuff I wanted to talk about, but it slipped my mind.  Then, when I’m stuck for what to talk about, i just grab all those forgotten scraps.  So what scraps make up Episode 8.11: Titles Are Hard?

  • I saw the Roger Ebert documentary Life Itself on Netflix, and share my reminiscings about Mr. Ebert.
  • Sighting View-Master reels for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in a museum leads to ranting about the history of View-Master
  • Telling the tale of the Justice League movie we almost got from the director of Mad Max
  • How all those videos games that have the action figure tie-ins (i.e. Disney Infinity) are really starting to tickle my fancy

Plus, I once again recount the tale of how I made my best friend.  I’ve blogged about it, but I felt like telling it once again.
