Movie Review – The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight

Directed by Christopher Nolan

Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman.

Backstory

The most hyped movie of the summer is here! Everyone was eagerly waiting for the next Batman movie to hit the theatres, even me, the lifelong Batman fan that I am. And of course, the buzz for this particular film went to overdrive with the unfortunate passing of Heath Ledger.

Plot

It’s one year since Batman first appeared on the scene, and things in Gotham City seem to be getting better. But it’s not only Batman who’s turning things around, but the new district attorney, Harvey Dent. With the mobs that run Gotham being pushed to their limits, a new menace arrives…a very disturbed individual known only as the Joker. Before long, Batman, Harvey Dent, and Commissioner Gordon are joining forces to finish off the mob and the Joker. It’s a quest that takes Batman to Hong Kong and back, and Harvey Dent to the brinks of sanity, all while the Joker pushes their buttons. Will Batman be able to stop the Joker and save Gotham City once again?

What I Liked

Every thing about Batman is done right. Batman is right. The Joker is right. Harvey Dent is right. And when Batman’s enhanced kicks in and those little white goggles appear in Batman’s eyes, I totally geeked out! For the first time in a long time, it’s a Batman movie where the geeks have nothing to bitch about.

What I Didn’t Like

All that talk about going to Hong Kong and we never saw the Batplane? Rip-off!

Final Assessment

The best Batman movie.
